Solution Chemistry

John Fisher
Rend Lake College

Course

General Chemistry (Chem 101)

Description

This is a very short module dealing with the thermochemistry of a super-saturated solution. It utilizes a website from Purdue University and features a short mini-movie as well as diagrams for a lab scenario that I have used in the past. The scenario charges the students with determining how reuseable (microwaveable) hot packs work. The inclusion of the mini-clip gives this module an interactive dimension.

Transferability

This module would have application to any course that deals with solution chemistry, the thermodynamics of solvation, and crystal formation.
